Since time immemorial, much of civilization’s most poignant art has occupied the nebulous crossroads of the sacred and the secular. New York artist Meg Hitchcock plumbs those depths one mile deeper with her inspiring collages of symmetric designs composed of holy texts. Borrowing in the most literal sense of the word from the scriptures of the world’s great faiths, she weaves liturgical excerpts into compelling geometries, forging in the process the physical and spiritual space in which her creations reside. Here are just a few of the highlights from two of her collections, Hymns and Mantras & Meditations.
